Almost D-Day For The Vietnam Tour

Arrival In Vietnam

It is almost D-Day for the Vietnam Tour which starts on Wednesday 15 October. The riders are all either on their way or have already arrived and our special two Aussies, Mark Johnson (Jono) and John McKenny (Macca) I know – it’s confusing!! Also our trusty New Zealander, Howard Thompson are all riding for the old folk of Zimbabwe.

Let’s really support these guys as they do epic with Eric and his team – please give generously either by clicking the DONATE button which will send your donation straight to ZANE Australia or by following Mark on his GoFundMe page below.

If you donate direct to ZANE Australia please make sure you reference the ride so that we can thank you personally and direct the funds directly to the old folk who so desperately need our help.

As Eric always says “HAVE FUN. DO GOOD. DO EPIC” !!

D-Day To Vietnam Tour To Victoria Falls

This blog is coming to you from Doha, Qatar. Just a few blogs ago, Hanoi was months and weeks away, but now it is just a 9 hour flight away, and we should arrive lunchtime today, unless of course we miss our flight.

The airport in Doha is massively busy, even at 1 in the morning, with planes rushing to all corners of the world, apart from the flights to Riyadh which have been cancelled, because the Houthis dropped bombs on Riyadh airport yesterday. Scary stuff, our plane had to dogleg around Yemen and Saudi airspace before landing in Qatar. Yemen looks better when seen from 30,000 feet up.

Our final preparations for the Tour went surprisingly well, apart from a slight cockup with my bike bag. Turns out my brand-new secondhand bike bag is for a 26-inch bike, as compared to my 29-inch bike. Thankfully, i forgot to pack the Dick of the Day regalia, otherwise for sure I would be pedalling out of Ha Giang resplendent in the wig and tutu.

Vietnam Transport

Please be introduced to Alex Kirkman our last but not least rider, and easily the most camera shy. We are riding from Vietnam to Vic Falls. to raise money and awareness for Zimbabwe’s pensioners, and for the Friendship Bench, creating safe places for vulnerable people across Zimbabwe, and across the world.

Please be invited to follow our adventure on Facebook and social media, and please also help us help others by following the donate prompts below.
