Grateful For Food Parcels

With the help of several donors, ZANE has been delivering parcels that contain food and coronavirus protection kits – these have had a huge impact on the wellbeing of some of our beneficiaries as you can see from the report from our Zimbabwe teams:

We did our normal food deliveries but this time with a difference. Having been doing this for a year now, we know each person extremely well, in a different way than we had done before and for similar reasons.

People love receiving actual consumable visible items and this triggers different comforting emotions in them which has been fascinating to watch.

We, for several months now, have been observing that medical needs are becoming more and more urgent and very unaffordable for most of our beneficiaries.

With much thought and discussion amongst our team, we came to the conclusion that the group we have always delivered to, seem to now be fine with food supplies but are very short of necessary medical supplies for:

  • pain
  • blood pressure
  • emphysema
  • heart problems
  • arthritis etc

They mostly don’t have sufficient funds for this and so go without.

We have been warning them since last November that the food deliveries would come to an end and so weren’t surprised when we told them this week that this was the final delivery. What they were most sad about was losing contact with us, so we strongly reassured them that this would not happen.

Peter, who is normally so quiet and shy, has been more and more open and welcomed the idea of us all meeting at least once or twice a month, which we will definitely do.
