ZANE and Old Legs Riders

It is great that ZANE has such close and productive relationship with Eric and all the Old Legs Tour participants – it means that the two entities can work together to bring about the maximum help to the old folk of Zimbabwe.

Jeanie

Jeanie was referred to ZANE by Eric de Jong of the Old Legs Tour and I visited her to carry out an assessment. She is in a desperate situation and needs an urgent hip replacement.

Jeanie’s husband passed away two years ago and since then has not been able to cope financially and emotionally. She has no income and relies on her daughter to support her. However, her daughter is a single mother and only has a part-time job. She has a range of emotional and social problems herself.

Fortunately, Jeanie’s husband left her the family home which she would like to sell and down size. This will hopefully place her in a better financial position. With the help of Eric and his team, a lawyer, doctor, estate agent and a house cleaner are on stand by for Jeanie.

ZANE will continue to advise and support Jeanie with food and medicine until she sells.

John H

Sadly, John H. passed away on the 27th October, after a long struggle with cancer. John had been fighting this disease for almost two years, fortunately he was pain free until the last two months. He was a very brave man, who never complained and always grateful for ZANE’s moral support.

Grateful thanks to the nurse from Island Hospice, who was constantly available to give me advice about how to keep John comfortable and pain free. It has been a very difficult time for his wife Gill, who is not in good health herself.
