Financial And Emotional Lifeline

Reports from the untiring ZANE caring team in Zimbabwe make us all realise how much the elderly rely on the aid and emotional support the carers provide for the often lonely elderly folk who are struggling day to day in Zimbabwe.

Don L

After our visit to Don L, we decided that since we could not assist with his operation costs we would pay for his monthly heart medication.

These cost him $75 every month. Don was extremely grateful to hear this news.

Hilda T

My visit to Hilda T. was very rewarding, she was so excited to see me, saying “I am so lonely, thank you for visiting me”, this made me feel like I was doing something grand, but yet it was just 40 minutes out of my day.

Although Hilda lives with her son, he is at work all day, leaving her alone without home help. Hilda suffers from deep thrombosis in her legs and requires a lot of monthly medication which ZANE is presently paying. Hilda is very grateful for our financial support but more so for the time we take to visit her.

Ron M

I visited Ron M after receiving a message from his wife Mavis, saying he was not doing well. Whilst Ron recognised me and welcomed me, I noticed he was vague not really present as his body begins to shut down.

Ron has a ‘living will’ so will be made comfortable but not resuscitated when the time comes. Mavis is doing her best to be brave, however this situation is always harder than one thinks, when the time arrives.
