With the situation in Zim continuing to decline as hyperinflation hits yet again, Tom Benyon aged 80 (ZANE’s founder) and Jane, his wife, will be undertaking yet another walk to raise money for the elderly folk who depend on ZANE for their very survival.

Without regular visits from the dedicated ZANE carers, many of these pensioners would literally have no way of surviving. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your ongoing support and encourage you to continue.

We camped our 3rd but last night of the Zanzibar Tour in a town called Kibiti, in the grounds of a high school cut and pasted straight out of 1960’s East Germany. The buildings had a certain romance, but only in pitch darkness, other wise they were crumbling.

I much enjoyed our last bush camp outside Nangurukuru. It will be our last time to sleep under msasa trees on this Tour, listening to night-apes being murdered.

We have bush camped for the last 8 nights on the trot. David Livingstone is the only man in history who has bush camped for longer. Famously, Bear Grylls once tried 8 nights straight camping but had to abort because he felt sick and ran out of clean underwear.

This blog is coming to you from a bush camp about 5 km past the village of Ngwale which is on the map, but only just. Night-apes sound like they are being murdered in the trees all around us. We hear them at every bush camp. I am blogging with my foot in a bucket, but more of that also later.
