Zimbabwe, as you all know, is a country without social services’ provision or healthcare, a country where the pensions and tiny savings of the elderly have been stolen by the state.
How Can You Help?
Because of limited resources ZANE targets the money you generously send us with great care.
ZANE is a “relational” charity and we only help people we know are in desperate need; people like Monica Scott (78), a retired primary school teacher.
She never married and she takes pride in her independence. She had saved for her retirement. But her savings were destroyed in the great inflation of 2003-9: and once again inflation is rising over 600%, with ordinary foods and medicines out of reach except to the wealthy.
When ZANE met Monica, she was malnourished and in profound despair: she had no option left but to beg. Today ZANE pays the rent of a retirement cottage and provides sufficient money to enable Monica to buy the food and medicines she needs.
ZANE is working in partnership with the Old legs Tour to raise funds to help the elderly of Zimbabwe and this year, because of the ongoing covid situation, many supporters are participating from wherever they live.
I am taking the opportunity of introducing Alan Crundall and Mark Johnson who will be riding around Queensland from Maroochydore up North then West working their way down to Mundubbera.

By donating to their efforts through ZANE Australia you will be supporting the elderly folk in Zim who have lost everything and you will be able to claim the tax back.
You can donate by bank transfer to:
ZANE Australia BSB: 032023 Account: 305217
Or visit http://zaneaustralia.org.au/donate/
Be sure to mark your donation “OLT Alan Crundall” and give your name and email address so we can thank you personally.
Many thanks

Message From Alan & Mark
As you may be aware WA imposed a Quarantine and closed borders with Queensland which has made us change yet again our goalpost with regards to the Munda Biddi WA ride we had planned.
Mark Johnson and myself have made the decision to ride 1000 kms in Queensland this year as we cannot take time needed to quarantine or risk becoming stuck in WA with Covid restrictions.
We will start from our hometown of Maroochydore and follow the coast up to and around Gladstone after which we will turn West to Biloela and then head South to finish our ride in Mundubbera home of our good friends Blade and Julie Mackenzie.
Mark and I will fund our ride personally as part of our contribution, so no costs will be deducted from the donations received, all donations will go to ZANE for distribution to the elderly folk that so desperately need help.
So far Mark has already raised AU$3728.00, we are now working together to raise as much as possible, out of interest the Zimbabwe ride last year raised over US$150000.00 which included a lot of donations from this part of the world, be a good target to beat.
We will start our ride on Tuesday 4th May taking around 8 to 10 days to complete the tour of duty. Anyone wishing to join us for any section of the ride would be most welcome.
So from Mark and I thank you for all your donations so far.
