Reports coming out of Zimbabwe are showing yet again how difficult things continue to be for the elderly and vulnerable. With the situation in the country compounded by the drought and high prices, the need for help has never been greater.

Jeff H
Jeff H. is living in his own caravan. He is again unwell, struggling with his chronic health problems of glaucoma and congested asthmatic lungs; but now he has the added problem of gout in his feet and left elbow, causing enormous and continuous pain. His pain is starting to subside and as soon as it has completely, he will start taking Purinol.
He is a very nice man to spend time with, having had an interesting life working for National Parks. He is very grateful for all the help he is receiving and wanted it known that he prays daily for all of us, especially everyone in the ZANE team.
Jessie
Jessie is living in her own home. She phoned us at 4.45 a.m. on Sunday morning, saying she urgently needed money to see her doctor for her painful leg. We delivered it to her at speed on Monday morning, even though we knew we’d be seeing her on Wednesday.
When I visited her on Wednesday, she was well and happy and had not been to the doctor at all. It is now certain that we need to reassess Jessie soon because it is obvious she is not using our assistance in the way it was initially intended.
Nick and Lindsay
Nick is living in a tent with his wife, Lindsay. Nick continuously struggles with congested lungs and other health problems. I talked with him at length, trying to get him to talk seriously with me, instead of always playing-down his health issues.
This time it worked, and he told me he was born with lung and heart problems and has had to deal with these all his life, including when training in the army. These are such deserving people and always trying to help those even less well off than themselves – I always feel humbled by their fortitude and kindness.
